Tell us a little about yourself.

I live in San Diego, California with my husband and two kids. My daughter is 12 and my son is 10. I graduated from the University of California San Diego where I majored in Political Science with a minor in Sociology. I went on to earn my MBA from National University. I have worked in higher education specifically financial aid for over 25 years. Within the financial aid office, I have held all positions from a counselor up to director. I earned my FAAC Certified Financial Aid Administrator through NASFAA.

What makes HEAG unique or special compared to your work experiences elsewhere?

HEAG is unique compared to other work experiences because it allows me the opportunity to learn different operating systems and see how schools utilize different technologies that are available. HEAG also allows me to network with numerous colleagues that I wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to collaborate with on financial aid regulations and knowledge.

What advice would you give to a school looking to bring in an FA consultant?

The advice would be to start the engagement open-minded and be open to different views that could improve and/or better their existing processes.

What is something few people know about you?

I am an open book so there really isn’t anything that people don’t know about me. Maybe it is that I have only worked within financial aid from my first job in college to my current and at the same university.
